He studied engineering in his hometown and worked as Design Director for Philips from 1952 to 1963. In 1964, Pehrson became the owner, chief operating officer and art director of the lighting manufacturer Atelj Lyktan in hus. Following in the footsteps of Atelj Lykta's founder Hans Bergstrm, Pehrson became interested in lighting in the workplace and focused on improving lighting in public and industrial spaces.
